Historic Club Gets a Modern Pool Deck Makeover
SUNDEK of Pennsylvania resurfaced the pool deck at the historic Philadelphia Cricket Club, refreshing the space with a beautiful, functional surface.
In the Philadelphia Cricket Club pool area, SUNDEK of Pennsylvania resurfaced the 11,268-square-foot deck using Classic Texture in two colors: Bone White and Pewter.The Philadelphia Cricket Club, founded in 1854, holds a unique distinction as the oldest country club in the United States—and the only one in the nation to feature golf courses constructed in three different centuries. In May 2025, the club’s historic Wissahickon course hosted the PGA’s Truist Championship.
With so much prestige surrounding the property, club owners knew that their facilities, including the pool area, needed to reflect the same level of excellence. They reached out to SUNDEK of Pennsylvania, a trusted name in high-quality concrete resurfacing.

In addition to its weathered appearance, the surface retained heat on hot summer days, making it uncomfortable for bare feet. Wanting to refresh the space and improve functionality, the club requested solutions from SUNDEK who proposed resurfacing the entire thing using Classic Texture.
The transformed deck has a modern look, is cool to walk on during the heat of summer, easy to clean, and will last for many years despite the amount of foot traffic this popular pool gets.In preparation for the project, approximately 1,000 square feet of inlaid brick was removed from the deck. In its place, another concrete contractor poured fresh concrete. After that phase was completed, SUNDEK was brought in to resurface the entire 11,268-square-foot deck.
Classic Texture is a favorite for resurfacing pool decks, especially in high-traffic areas. Its slip-resistant surface stays cool even under the intense summer sun, making it a safer and more comfortable choice for guests. Before, the deck was outdated and in need of a serious upgrade. Brick was removed and concrete was poured in its place, which SUNDEK of Pennsylvania colored in Pewter to create a modern design.To create a clean, timeless look, SUNDEK applied Classic Texture in Bone White across the majority of the deck. For the sections where brick had been removed and replaced with concrete, they added Pewter-colored bands, simulating the look of runners and adding a subtle visual accent.
