System: Classic Texture in Kahlua | Custom Scoreline
We redid this pool deck for a returning customer who had already trusted us with his driveway. The deck had developed cracks and lost its color. Rather than hiding the cracks, we used our Custom Scoreline technique to work them into an intentional design pattern.

System: Classic Texture in Kahlua | Custom Scoreline | 1,021 sq ft
This residential pool deck was cracked and got too hot to walk on barefoot in summer. We resurfaced it with Classic Texture in Kahlua, a lighter neutral that reflects heat rather than absorbing it. Custom Scorelines addressed the cracks.

Resurfacing means applying a specialized coating directly over your existing concrete. No demolition. No starting from scratch. Depending on the condition of the surface, a contractor will repair problem areas first, then apply the new coating on top. It's a more efficient and cost-effective path to a brand-new looking deck.
Here on the east coast, freeze-thaw cycles take a real toll on concrete over time. Surfaces fade, crack, stain, and scale. In other cases, the deck just no longer complements the home's style. Resurfacing can address all of it without the disruption and expense of full replacement.
Why Local Experience Matters Here
Freeze-Thaw Cycles
Winter moisture works into surface pores and freezes. Over time, that pressure cracks and scales even well-built concrete.
Humid Summers
High humidity affects how coatings cure. Timing and product selection matter more here than people realize.
Hot Surface Temps
Pool decks in direct sun get uncomfortable fast. The right coating and color choice keeps surfaces walkable even in July and August.
Local Know-How
We've worked in Chester and Montgomery County long enough to know what holds up here and what doesn't.
Why Homeowners Near You Trust Us With Their Pool Decks
It looks as though the entire pool is brand-new.
Our 28 year old concrete decking around our pool needed a face lift. We now love how our decking looks and feels. I have already recommended Sundek of PA to a few of my neighbors.

Unbelievable job covering cracks.
From start to finish it was a great experience. Sundek did an unbelievable job in covering the cracks in my cement deck. The color we chose was perfect and the finished product looks so great. I would definitely recommend Sundek to anyone who wants to change the appearance of their yard.

Our old stamped concrete got very hot in the summer.
Final product is beautiful. Couldn't be happier. The repairs to the ugly hole in concrete due to an old plumbing repair and the crumbling cantilever corners look amazing. Also our old stamped concrete deck got very hot in the summer. Looking forward to a nice, cool surface to walk on.

Common Questions About Pool Deck Resurfacing
No. Professional coatings are applied with textures that improve traction and reduce the risk of slips and falls. At SUNDEK of Pennsylvania, safety is part of how we approach every pool deck project. Your contractor can recommend the right finish for your specific area and use patterns. We also offer SunPlay cushioned coatings for an even softer, safer surface.
Classic Texture, our most popular pool deck coating, is known in the industry for staying cooler than plain gray concrete and most paver surfaces. The acrylic finish reflects heat rather than absorbing it, and the texture reduces the amount of surface area that contacts bare feet. Color matters too: lighter shades like Bone White and Kahlua stay significantly cooler than dark ones.
It depends on the severity. Minor surface cracks are not a problem. In many cases, we use our Custom Scoreline technique to work existing cracks into the design of the new surface rather than trying to hide them. For more significant structural damage, we assess the deck first and make repairs before any coating goes down. Most slabs are good candidates for resurfacing.
Before any coating goes down, the existing concrete needs a proper assessment and preparation. If the surface isn't prepared correctly, the coating won't hold. Contractors who work regularly in Southeastern Pennsylvania also understand the local climate and how freeze-thaw cycles, humidity, and rain affect both installation and long-term performance. SUNDEK products are only available through authorized installers who have completed the required training. That protects the quality of the finished product.
More than most people expect. You can choose from a wide range of colors, including natural earth tones, contemporary grays, and custom combinations. Textured finishes add visual interest while improving traction. Our Classic Texture system is available in 16 Signature Colors, and techniques like Custom Scoreline and Masonry Effects let you personalize the surface further. If you have a specific look in mind, we'd love to talk through it.
